Buying Classic Chevy Trucks

Chevy Trucks

Chevy trucks aficionados are not just after the newer trucks built by Chevrolet. They are also into oldies but goodies trucks that have been magnificently preserved for long years. In fact, one can still find Chevy trucks made some 60 to 70 years ago. The vintage sensation that a classic Chevy truck bring is something invaluable.

For so many decades, Chevrolet proved that their makes are still the most loved by Americans. Consider the wonderful cruising that a Chevy truck gives. Plus the unimaginable sensation of driving a Chevy truck off road. Maybe regarded to be as satisfying.

When buying a classic Chevy truck, prefer the 1955-57 models. Chevy trucks during these times are gorgeous, solid and hard. Not to mention the heavy masculine inclination of the designs. Classic Chevy trucks during these years are really worth the price.

Art Deco trucks have its distinctive look for a Chevy truck. These trucks have marvelous front grills. These were made sometime from 1941 to 1946. However, many hot rodders prefer the 1955 to 1957 models.

Chevy trucks of the 1960’s were some what remakes of the 1950’s. Maintaining the muscular details and clean look and cutting only some small details. These trucks were out from 1960 to 1966. The next batch, 1967-1972 Chevy truck models, was more developed in terms of design but with plain
look.

Buying a classic Chevy truck is like purchasing a new one. You need to think of the qualifications and set high standards. You also need to inspect the Chevy trucks for any damage or unwanted parts. Here are suggestions on what to do in inspecting your desired classic Chevy truck:

• Prepare several questions that will help you in arriving at your desired model. You may ask yourself what year and model you want to purchase, the design, the price, etc.
• Call the owner or the selling company and ask for the history of the truck. The history includes the age of the truck, the number of times it has undergone repair and so on. Do not rely on the answers on the phone. Visit the company or the owner and propose a test drive. That move will prove whether the seller is really telling the truth.
• Make an appointment with your mechanic. Tell him that you are to bring a truck for inspection. Make sure you are in the shop during the inspection.
• Do a general check up on the truck. You may not like your prospective truck to have leaks, rust, old hoses, etc.
• Look for past repair documentation. This must be provided by the selling company or the owner. This document is very important so that you may not have any hassle to find out what is really wrong with the truck.
• Set a price according to the inspection, the test drive and the history. Make sure that, whatever price you may end up with, you are still the most benefited.

Remember that you buy a classic Chevy truck not for long distance travel or heavy work loads but only for fun. You buy one to have the unexplainable feelings that other classic Chevy truck owners profess. Make sure also that you are satisfied with the result of the inspection made by your mechanic. Bear in mind also that you are buying a vintage car and not rubbish.

Felix the Cat

Felix origins remain in dispute. Australian cartoonist / film entrepreneur Pat Sullivan, owner of the character Felix said during his life and his creator. American animator Otto Messmer, Sullivan's lead facilitator, has been awarded the most credit in the past decades. Some historians argue that Messmer phantom Sullivan. What is certain is that Felix emerged from Sullivan's studio, and cartoons featuring featuring the character knows success and popularity in the 1920s.
In the early 1920s has a huge popularity Felix in popular culture. He got his own comic strip (drawn by Messmer) from 1923, and his image soon adorned all sorts of goods such as ceramics, toys and postcards. Several manufacturers made stuffed Felix. Jazz bands such as Paul Whiteman's played songs about him (1923's "Felix continued to walk" and others).
In the late 1920s with the arrival of sound cartoons Felix success was fading. Short films from Disney of Mickey Mouse, made offerings of Sullivan and Messmer silent, who were then reluctant to move to its production, seem outdated. In 1929, Sullivan decided to make the transition and began distributing the cartoon images his Felix Copley. The sound Felix shorts proved to be unsuccessful and the operation ended in 1930. Sullivan died in 1933. Felix saw a brief three cartoon resurrection in 1936 by Van Beuren Studios.
Felix began broadcasting cartoons on TV U.S. in 1953. Meanwhile, Joe Oriolo, who was now the direction comics Felix, presented a revised version of "long legs "Felix in a new animated series for television. Oriolo also added new characters, and gave Felix a" Magic bag of tricks ", which could assume an infinite variety of forms at the request of Felix. The cat has since starred in other TV programs and two feature films. Felix is still featured on a wide variety of goods from clothing to toys. Oriolo son, Don Oriolo, control Now the creative work of Felix films.

The famous Felix pace "as seen in" Oceantics "(1930)
On November 9, 1919, Master Tom, a prototype Felix, debuted in a Paramount Pictures short entitled Feline Follies. Produced by the animation studio in New York City-owned by Pat Sullivan the cartoon was directed by cartoonist and animator Otto Messmer. It has been a success, and the Sullivan studio quickly set to work on production another film featuring Master Tom, Felix the Cat in the prototype Musical Mews (released November 16, 1919). She also has been a hit with public. Otto Messmer gave two different versions of how Felix got his name, one on his official website ejoining Sullivan with a great idea for a new character named Felix the Cat, and the second as r. (John) King Paramount Magazine has suggested the name "Felix", after the Latin words felis (Cat) and Felix (lucky), which was used for the third film, The Adventures of Felix (published December 14, 1919). Pat Sullivan said he named Felix Felix, after Australia's history and Australian literature. In 1924, animator Bill Nolan redesigned the fledgling feline, making him both round and cute. Felix's new looks, coupled with the character animation Messmer, Felix has to stardom.
The question know exactly who created Felix remains a subject of dispute. Sullivan said in interviews that many newspapers has created and conducted Felix key drawings for the character. During a visit to Australia in 1925, Sullivan told the Argus newspaper that "The idea I been given by the sight of a cat that my wife was in the studio one day. "On other occasions, he said that Felix was inspired by Rudyard Kipling "The cat that walked by himself" or his wife's love for dogs. Members of the Australian Association of cartoons have shown that the characters used in writing Feline Follies matches Sullivan. Pat Sullivan also noted in his drawings that has been a Messmer major contradiction to the claims. asks Sullivan is also supported by its March 18, 1917, leaving a short cartoon titled The Tail of Thomas Kat more than two years before Feline Follies. Both an Australian documentary ABC-TV broadcast in 2004 and the curators of the exhibition at the State Library New South Wales, in 2005, suggested that Thomas Kat was a prototype or precursor of Felix. However, few details about Thomas have survived. The color of the fur has not been definitively established, and the copyright for surviving short synopsis suggests important differences between Thomas and later Felix. For example, while the later Felix magically transforms his tail in tools and other objects, Thomas is a non-anthropomorphic cat who loses its tail in a fight with a rooster, never to recover.
Sullivan was the studio owner and as is the case with almost all contractors film he owned the copyright of any creative work of its employees. In common with many leaders at the time, Mr. Messmer has not been credited. After Sullivan's death in 1933, his estate in Australia took control of the character.
It was not until many years after the death of Sullivan that Sullivan's personal as Hal Walker, Al Eugster, and Sullivan's lawyer, Harry Kopp, credited Messmer with the creation of Felix. They Felix said that was based on an animated Charlie Chaplin that Messmer had animated for Sullivan's studio earlier. Personality down-and-out and movements of Feline Follies cat reflect key attributes of Chaplin, and although the later blockier Felix, the familiar black body is already there (Messmer found solid shapes easier to animate). Messmer himself recalled his version of the creation of the cat in an interview with historian John Canemaker Animation:
Sullivan studio was very busy, and Paramount, they were falling behind their schedule and they needed to fill an additional "and Sullivan, being very busy, said:" If you want to do on the side, you can do any little thing to satisfy them. "So I 'm a cat would be about the simplest. Do it all in black, you know you should not worry about outlines. And one gag after another, you know? Cute. And they all got laughs. So Paramount liked it if they ordered a series.
Many animation historians (mostly American and English) substantiate the allegations Messmer. Among them, Michael Barrier, Jerry Beck, Colin and Timothy Cowles, Donald Crafton, David Gerstein, Milt Gray, Mark Kausler, Leonard Maltin, and Charles Solomon.
Regardless of who created Felix the Cat Sullivan marketed relentlessly, while Messmer continued to produce a prodigious volume Felix cartoons. Messmer is the animation directly on white paper with ink drawings tracing directly. The animators drew circles on pieces film, which were then placed on top of drawings to be photographed. Any work in perspective should be animated by hand, as the studio cameras were unable to perform any pots or trucks. Messmer began a comic strip in 1923, distributed by King Features Syndicate.
Popularity and distribution
Felix the Cat comic strip debuted in England's Daily Sketch on August 1, 1923 and entered syndication in the U.S. August 19 of that year. This band was particularly the second to appear (August 26). Although this work has been Messmer, it was required to sign the name of Sullivan for. The video includes a significant amount of slang in the 1920s, as buzz for such a job " and "if you want a power surge just me crazy."
Paramount Pictures distributed the first films from 1919 to 1921. Margaret J. Winkler distributed the shorts from 1922 to 1925, the year when education took more pictures distribution shorts. Sullivan has promised a new Felix runs every two weeks. The combination of solid animation, clever promotion and widespread distribution in the popularity of Felix to new vertices.
References to alcoholism and prohibition were also commonplace in many shorts Felix, including Felix discovered (1924), Why and why others (1927), Felix Woos Whoopee (1930) to name a few. In Felix coated It Out (1924), Felix tries to help his hobo friend who is struggling with a red nose. At the end of the short, the cat finds the cure state: "Keep drinking, and it will turn blue."
In addition, Felix was one of the first images ever broadcast by television when RCA chose a paper doll Felix mch for 1928 W2XBS experience through New York in Van Cortlandt Park. The doll was chosen for its tonal contrast and its ability to withstand the intense lights needed. He was placed on a phonograph turntable and photographed for about two hours each day. After a one-time gain of Sullivan, the doll remained on the shelf for nearly a decade as RCA fine-tuned the definition of the image.
Felix success also spawned a host of imitators. Appearances and personalities of other stars of the 1920 cats such as Julius comedy from Walt Disney Alice waffles Paul Terry's Aesop's Film Fables, and especially Bill Nolan in 1925 adaptation of Krazy Kat (distributed by the Winkler avoided) all seem to have been directly modeled on Felix.
Felix cartoons were also popular among critics. They were cited as examples of Surrealism in imagination cinema.
Felix in the cartoon in color the goose that lays the golden egg (1936)
Felix was said to represent the meaning of a child of wonder, creating the fantastic when it is not there, and take it in stride when he is. His famous paceands behind his back, head down, deep thoughtecame a brand that has been analyzed by critics around the world. Felix expressive tail, which could be a shovel one moment, an exclamation mark or pencil the next, serves to emphasize that anything can happen in his world. Aldous Huxley wrote that the Felix shorts proved that "What film can do better than literature or the spoken drama must be fantastic."
By 1923 the figure was at the height of his film career. Felix in Hollywood, a short released during this year, plays on the popularity of Felix, as he made the acquaintance of fellow celebrities such as Douglas Fairbanks, Cecil B. DeMille, Charlie Chaplin, Ben Turpin, and even censorship Will H. Hays. His image can be seen on clocks, Christmas ornaments, and the first giant balloon made to parry the Macy's Thanksgiving Day. Felix also became the subject several popular songs of the era, as "Felix continued to walk" by Paul Whiteman. Sullivan made an estimated $ 100,000 one year toy license alone. With the success of the character also appeared a handful of new costars. These include Felix master Willie Brown, a film named Skiddoo Mouse, Felix's nephews Inky, Dinky, and Winky, and his girlfriend Kitty.
Most of the early Felix cartoons mirrored American attitudes "years Crazy. "ethnic stereotypes that appeared in these shorts is that Felix Hunger (1924). Recent events such as the Russian Civil War have been represented in short all puzzled as Felix (1924). Flappers were caricatured in Felix Strikes It Rich (also 1924). He was also involved in the union with Felix Revolts (1923). In some shorts, Felix made the same interpretation of Charleston.
In 1928, education stopped releasing the Felix cartoons and several were taken over by First National Pictures. Copley Pictures distributed them from 1929 to 1930. He saw a resurrection three short cartoons in 1936 by Van Beuren Studios (The goose that lays golden eggs, and Neptune Nonsense Bold King Cole). Sullivan did most of the marketing for character in the 1920s, in those shorts, he spoke of a child sharp as the voice was provided by Mae Questel, the voice of Betty Boop and Olive Oyl.
Felix as mascot
The insignia of the U.S. Navy squadron VF-31, 1948
Given the unprecedented popularity of the character and that his name was partially derived from the Latin word for "lucky", some quite significant and organizations adopted Felix as a mascot. The first was in Los Angeles Chevrolet dealer and friend of Pat Sullivan named Winslow B. Felix, who opened his showroom in 1921. The neon sign on three sides of Felix Chevrolet, with its giant, smiling images of the character, is now one of the most famous of Los Angeles standing watch over two Figueroa Street and Highway Harbor. People who have adopted Felix included the 1922 New York Yankees and aviator Charles Lindbergh, who made a doll Felix with him on his historic flight in the Atlantic Ocean.
This popularity has persisted. In the late 1920s, the U.S. Navy Bombing Squadron Two (VB-2B) adopted an insignia of the unit consisting of Felix happily carrying a bomb with a burning fuse. Ils ont retenu les insignes dans les années 1930 when they became a fighter squadron under the designations VF-6B and, later, VF-3, whose members John Edward O'Hare and Thach became famous Navy pilots in World War II. After the Second World War a U.S. Navy fighter squadron VFA-31 is currently designated replaced its logo winged meat chopper with the same insignia, squadron after the original Felix had been dissolved. The squadron aircraft carrier night fighter, nicknamed "Tomcatters" remained active under various names continues through the present and Felix still appears on two of the squadron patch cloth jacket and aircraft, carrying a bomb with its fuse burning.
Felix is also the former high school mascot in the state of Indiana, elected in 1926 after a Logansport High School player brought his stuffed Felix to a basketball game. When the team came from behind and won that night, Felix became the mascot of all sports Logansport high school teams.
The pop punk band The Queers also use Felix as a mascot, often drawn reflected by the punk sensibilities and attributes such as frowning, smoking and playing guitar. Felix adorns the covers of both Surf Goddess EP and the album Move Back Home. Felix also appears in the video for the single "Do not retreat." In addition to appearing on the covers and notes of various albums emblematic of cat appears Also in goods such as t-shirts and buttons. In an interview with bassist B-Face, he asserts that Lookout! Records is responsible for the use of Felix as a mascot.
Felix appeared in an advertisement for the Japanese Daihatsu Mira 1991 that "Felix the Mira".
From silent to sound
Felix and Inky and Winky in "April Maze" (1930)
With the advent of The Jazz Singer in 1927, education Pictures, which distributed the Felix shorts the time, urged Pat Sullivan to make the leap to "talkie" cartoons, but Sullivan refused. Further disputes led to a breakdown between education and Sullivan. Only when Walt Disney Steamboat Willie made film history as the first talking cartoon strip Sullivan has synchronized sound see the possibilities of sound. He managed to secure a contract with First National Pictures in 1928. However, for reasons unknown, it did not last, so Sullivan sought Jacques Kopfstein and Copley Pictures to distribute his new sound Felix cartoons. On October 16, 1929, an advertisement in Daily movies with Felix announcing Jolson-like, "You is not heard nothing yet!"
Unfortunately, nothing good was heard of the transition Felix sound. Sullivan did not carefully prepare his transition to Felix, and added sound effects in cartoons sound like a post-process animation. The results were disastrous. More than ever, it seemed that Disney's mouse was drawing audiences away from Sullivan stars silence. Not even entries such as off-beat "Felix Woos Whoopee" or the Silly Symphony-esque April Maze (two in 1930) could find relief from hearing. Kopfstein finally canceled Sullivan's contract. Subsequently, he announced plans to launch a new studio in California, but these ideas never materialized. Things went from bad to worse when Sullivan's wife, Marjorie, died in March 1932. After this, Sullivan completely fell apart. He sank into a depression alcoholic, his health rapidly declined, and his memory begins to fade. He could not cash a check, even Messmer, because his signature has been reduced to a mere doodles. He died in 1933. Messmer pointed out,
He left quite a mess, no books, nothing. So when he died the place has been closed at the height of popularity, when everyone, RKO and each of them for years they tried to seize Felix. . . . I did not have this permission [to continue] character because I did not have legal ownership of it.
In 1935, J. Van Amadee Beuren Studios called Messmer Van Beuren and asked if he could return Felix to the screen. Van Beuren even stated that Messmer would equipped with a full staff and all necessary utilities. However, Messmer declined his offer and instead recommended Burt Gillett, a former Sullivan employee, who was now heading the staff of Van Beuren. In 1936, Van Beuren obtained approval from Sullivan's brother Felix in his license studio with the intention of producing new shorts both in color and with sound. With Gillett at the helm, now with a strong influence of Disney, he removed the personality Felix established and makes him just another funny-animal character of the type popular in the day. The new shorts were unsuccessful, and after only three Van Beuren outlets interrupted the series.
Stimulus
In 1953, Official Films purchased the Sullivan-Messmer shorts, added to the audiotapes, and distributed to markets home movie and television. Messmer himself pursued the Sunday Felix comic strips until removed in 1943 when he began eleven years of writing and drawing monthly comic books Felix for Dell Comics. In 1954, Messmer retired from the Felix daily newspaper strips, and assistant Joe Oriolo (the creator of Casper the Friendly Ghost) took over. Oriolo struck a deal with Felix's new owner, Pat Sullivan's nephew, to begin a new cartoon series on television Felix. Oriolo then star Felix in 260 television cartoons distributed by Trans-Lux beginning in 1958. Like the Van Beuren studio before, Oriolo gave Felix a personality more domesticated and pedestrian traffic, more oriented toward children, and introduces elements currently known as Felix's Magic Bag of tricks, a binder that could take the shape and characteristics of anything Felix wanted. The program is also known for its distinctive theme song written by Winston Sharples and executed in 1950's Big Band singer Ann Bennett:
Felix cat
The wonderful, wonderful cat!
Whenever he gets in a fix,
He arrives in his bag of tricks!
Felix the Cat
The wonderful wonderful cat
You'll laugh so much your sides will hurt
Your heart goes pitter pat
Watch Felix the Cat wonderful!
Felix the Cat
The wonderful, wonderful cat
You never know what he will do next
So do not even try to guess
Felix the Cat
The wonderful wonderful cat
It is also fun for everyone
No one wonders that
Because Felix the Cat wonderful!
The show was removed Felix previous supporting cast and introduced many new characters, all of which were performed by the voice of actor Jack Mercer:
Professor, a sinister, mustachioed villain who was chief of sheet Felix
Poindexter, the Professor is intelligent yet bookish nephew (having an IQ of 222) who sometimes working with his uncle Felix cons, yet is often presented as a friend of Felix and work against his uncle
Rock Bottom, Professor bulldog-face goofy sidekick
The master cylinder, an evil robot cylindrical and self-proclaimed "King of the Moon"
Vavoom, a little small, friendly Inuit, whose the only vocalization is a scream (literally) shattering its own name (but was powerless if his mouth was recorded closed).
Oriolo plots revolve around attempts to steal Felix antagonists Magic Bag, though in an unusual twist, these antagonists are sometimes described as Felix and friends. The cartoons were very popular, but critics have dismissed as pale in comparison with previous works Sullivan-Messmer, especially since the cartoons Oriolo aimed at children. Animation Limited (required story lines due to budget constraints) and simplistic does not diminish the popularity of the series.
Today Oriolo's son, Don, continues to market the cat. In 1988, Felix played in his first feature film, Felix the Cat: The Movie, in which he, the Professor and Poindexter visit an alternate reality. The film was a flop at the box office. In addition, it has not been even published until 1991. In 1995, Felix appeared on television again, in a staggered series called The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat. Baby Felix followed in 2000 for the Japanese market, the direct-to-video Felix the Cat Saves Christmas. Felix has also co-starred with Betty Boop in "Betty Boop and Felix" comics (1984-1987). Oriolo also caused a new wave of merchandising Felix, all of Wendy's Kids Meal toys in a video game for Nintendo Entertainment System.
Felix in his appearance on the screen first "Feline Follies" (1919)
Since the publication of John Canemaker Felix: The Twisted Tale of the world's most famous cat in 1991, there has been a renewed interest in shorts Sullivan-Messmer beginning. In recent years, films have seen a lot of VHS and DVD exposure, including the presentation of Felix the Cat video compilations Bosko, Felix! Lumivision of Felix the Cat: The collector's edition of Delta Entertainment, Before Mickey from Inkwell Images Ink, the recent Felix the Cat and 1920 Rarities of Thunderbean Animation. Messmer Felix cartoon compilations have also begun to emerge, including nine Lives to Live: A Classic Felix Celebration by David Gerstein and more recently The Comic Adventures of Felix the Cat Productions Determined.
According to Don Oriolo Felix the Cat blog, as of September 2008, provided in the development of a new television series. page biography of Don also mentions a cartoon series of 52 episodes in the works.
