Best block engine for good fuel economy?
I have a 1991 Chevy 1500 Pickup short wheelbase. He has a litter 4.3 with 275.000 miles its still has a long life but the gas mileage is slipping, I used to get about 23 mpg Highway @ 230.000 miles, now I get around 19 mpg. I have a sign from military bonus on my way and seeking to build an engine from a short block, my main concern is mpg so I'm wondering if Should I use a 350 (5.7), 4.3 or something else? Also looking for advice on how to build for MPG (heads and cam, head and air consumption), remember that power would be nice too.
well a 350 is a high performance engine .. just make sure u get a 4 bolt main … if u buy one of Edelbrock performance packages you get a great power .. mpg not sure but im thinkin 19 would be good … Construction 350 is however a gamble CHEAPEST UR .. Parts are the shovel …
