2000 Chevy express-2500 diesel truck starts but only runs for 45 to 60 seconds?

I plan to buy this type of truck body Chevrolet. He was sitting and was bent upwards and run until 3 or 4 times on 10 or 12 months. The truck is a 2000 Chevy Express 2500 V-8 6.5 L Turbo Diesel. The truck starts without problem, but only work for 45 to 60 seconds and then cut. When I try to crank back up, the eng can not turn over but not start. About 3 months, it does the same thing while trying to turn the crank and drive. So I guess Gravetye was allowed to travel in the days of fuel over the fuel filter, with just enough important to start the engine? A mechanic friend me said he thought it should be initiated and that it was probably air in the lines? If this is the probable problem, how can I purge lines or need to know the procedures? As Dan said, it could be the fuel shutoff valve or pump mounted driver. But you said that the truck has been sitting for a long time, so your mechanic friend to check the quality of the fuel and the condition of the fuel filter housing and filter for signs of water. It's possible that your truck is covered by GM Special Policy # 00064G the pump warranty was extended to 11 years or 120,000 miles whichever comes first. Check the last 8 of your VIN # must lie between (Y1100001 and Y1279981) if so, contact a Cav. dealer and they fix it.
