My 2006 Chevrolet HHR does not start. The battery is not dead. Thank you.?

My car will not start. We went to start it, but the key turned and the engine will not start. This is not the battery, and we do not believe that either the cables. Please help! The same thing happens with the truck my husband. The exact same thing happened last night and we had to pull my dad's house for us. We no other vehicles and it's just too weird! TIA, Debbi
